About GLS Italy

General Logistics Systems (GLS) Italy, also known as GLS Corriere Espresso, is a postal and delivery service company operating in Italy. It is a subsidiary of the parent company GLS BV, which is in turn owned by the British Royal Mail. It is involved in the movement of parcels and mails across several locations throughout the country and also offers a variety of logistics and express services.

GLS BV was first founded as German Parcel in 1989. In 1992, it was rebranded as a pan-European delivery service provider named General Parcel. Finally, it was sold to Royal Mail in 1999. GLS Italy is the Italian wing of the company, operating and providing services within the nation.

The National Express Service of the company moves about 500 kg worth of parcels and deliveries in a day. The services of GLS Italy are available in around 163 depots and 13 Hubs located in different towns across the country. The sheer size and scale of their logistics network ensure that deliveries are carried out quickly and efficiently, without much hassle. Depots are available at frequent distances, and there are dedicated representatives available to oversee the operations.

GLS Italy is committed to performing deliveries safely and at remarkable speeds, even to the most remote corners of the Italian Republic. The company also offers a great deal of flexibility when it comes to tailoring specific rules or delivery instructions, such that the needs of all customers are met with as much efficiency as possible.

GLS Italy has served over 160,000 customers and has a fleet size of about 7,800 delivery vehicles. The company also engages in sustainability measures, as evidenced by its investment in low and zero-emission delivery vehicles, which number somewhere around 130, and are only set to go up.

GLS Italy has made significant strides in environmentalism and sustainability in a variety of other ways as well. The company has attained UNI EN ISO certifications that affirm its commitment to its consumers while at the same time setting up environmental management systems and reducing emissions.

The GLS Group records all data regarding company resources, waste disposal, and environmental track record, ensuring that the company sustainability policies are implemented on the ground level. As a highly reputed and trusted company, they are also termed as low-risk at customs clearance terminals, thus simplifying imports of products by a wide margin.

With the help of third-party logistics technology platforms such as ClickPost, GLS Italy can provide API tracking and courier integration to track shipments and know shipping rates. API integration also allows for the setup of smart order management facilities and a number of other specialized features that would serve to enhance the delivery experience.

FAQs about GLS Italy

1) How to lodge a shipment collection request?

To lodge a shipment collection request, you must log on to the official GLS Group Italy website and to the Pick-Up Request Page. Keep in mind that you will need a registered account in order to lodge a request. Requests entered before 1 pm are picked up on the same day, whereas requests entered after 1 pm are picked up on the next working day.

2) What if my shipment is damaged?

If your shipment packaging turns out to be damaged or spoilt at the time of delivery, you need to sign the delivery papers and attest to the damage in front of the representative. You also have the option of refusing the delivery in this case. However, if the packaging is alright and the product inside is damaged, you need to contact the sender. Only the sender of the parcel can then lodge a relevant complaint with the delivery carrier.
