About Poșta Română


Romanian Post is the national operator in the postal service industry and a single universal service provider at any location on Romanian territory. It is divided into two branches, one express subsidiary office and 41 county post offices (courier division). It offers affordable rates to all customers and upholds high standards.

Poșta Română, established in 1862, has been a founding member since the UPU's (Universal Postal Union) inception in 1874. The UPU's 23rd Universal Postal Congress was hosted and organized by Poşta Română in 2004 and took place in Bucharest. Poşta Română is also a founding member of PostEurop (The Association of the European Public Postal Operators), which it joined in 1993. It actively participated in its events by contributing to several European projects, working with various PostEurop committees and working groups, and assisting in planning two PostEurop Plenary Assemblies in Bucharest in 1996 and 2004, respectively.

Since Poșta Română is the national postal delivery system of Romania, it operates through its vast network of over 5500+ post offices across the country.
